Kosuzume Purifiction Plant originates from the Sagami River, which flows through the center of Kanagawa Prefecture. Construction was completed in 1965 as the co-operated facility of Yokohama City (water supply and industrial water supply) and Yokosuka City in Yokosuka City. After two expansion work, the current water purification capacity is 1,009,200 m3 per day (about 3 cups of Yokohama Stadium). The purified water is supplied mainly to southern areas such as Konan Ward, Asahi Ward, Kanazawa Ward, Kohoku Ward, Totsuka Ward, Sakae Ward, and Izumi Ward, as well as Yokosuka City. It is responsible for about one-third of Yokohama City and about one-half of Yokosuka City.

2 Pumping pump

Raw water arriving at a point 40 meters below ground is pumped up to the ground. Three of the six units are power-saving, and power consumption is reduced.

3 Sinking Pond

Removes suspended matter in raw water.
The photovoltaic panels prevent the growth of algae and at the same time effectively utilizes electricity.
