Septic tank

• When installing a septic tank using a flush toilet in an area where public sewers are not maintained, procedures for installing septic tanks are required.
  In addition, procedure is necessary when septic tank setting construction was completed or when septic tank was abolished.

Note) If you do not submit a septic tank installation registration form or a septic tank change registration form, you will be subject to imprisonment for up to 3 months or a fine of up to 500,000 yen.

• If the notification regarding installation does not conform to the structural standards, it will be ordered to change or abolish the notification.
  Failure to comply will result in imprisonment for up to 3 months or a fine of up to 500,000 yen.

• A septic tank is a facility that cleans sewage by the action of microorganisms. Daily maintenance is important to prevent the quality of the discharged water from deteriorating and odors.
  Those who manage septic tanks are required to undergo maintenance and inspection, cleaning, and legal inspections. (Septic Tanks Act)

Note) If you do not follow the order for maintenance and inspection of the Septic Tanks Law and cleaning, you will be subject to imprisonment for up to 6 months or a fine of up to 1,000,000 yen.

• If you do not comply with the statutory inspection after installation or once a year and do not comply with subsequent orders, you will be subject to a fine of 300,000 yen or less.
