"World Food Day" Monthly Collaborative Event WORLD FOOD NIGHT

Last update date October 13, 2023

What is World Food Day Month?

World Food Day Month

It is a month when we think about hunger and food problems and work together to resolve them, triggered by World Food Day on October 16.
In Japan, October of World Food Day is designated as World Food Day Month since 2008, and NGOs/NPOs, and international organizations working to resolve hunger and food problems on a daily basis are jointly disseminating information.

Current Status of Food Issues

The world produces enough food for all people to eat, but one in ten people is not enough.
On the other hand, one-third of the food produced in the world is thrown away.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to solve various issues such as poverty, inequality, and climate change, aims to "zero hunger" and reduce food loss by 2030. However, changing the world requires many people to take action.
