About treatment of oversized garbage with vomit containing virus attached

When vomit containing norovirus / rotavirus is attached

Last Updated January 26, 2024

Norovirus rotavirus is highly infectious and causes new infections from droplets such as vomit.
Therefore, please discharge after appropriate treatment as follows.
Thank you very much for your cooperation.

  1. Disposable gowns (prons), disposable masks, gloves, rags, paper towels, newspapers, etc. (preferably) glasses or goggles, plastic bags, sodium hypochlorite (*) diluted to a chlorine concentration of about 1000 ppm (hereinafter referred to as "disinfectants") Please prepare.)

  2. In order to prevent shattering infection, do not approach nearby except for those who handle the treatment, and wear disposable gowns (apron), disposable masks, gloves (preferably glasses or goggles) Please gently wipe off vomiting with a rag, paper towel, newspaper, etc. so that the virus does not splatter.

  3. After wiping off the vomit, etc., wipe the place where the vomit has adhered with a disinfectant, and then wipe with water.

  4. Put the wiped vomit and rag, paper towels, newspapers, etc. used for wiping should be placed in a plastic bag, pour a disinfectant, seal, and discarded as burnable garbage. (It is desirable to pour a disinfectant enough to soak the waste in the plastic bag.)

  5. After treatment, lather the soap thoroughly to wash your fingers, rinse thoroughly with running water with hot water, and wipe your fingers with a clean towel or paper towel. Please do not use a disinfectant for disinfecting fingers, etc., as it may cause skin roughness.

  6. Put oversized garbage in a plastic bag, etc., or wrap it with wrap film and seal it, and apply to Oversized Garbage Reception Center by phone.
In addition, at the time of application, please be sure to report that vomit containing norovirus and rotavirus have been attached and that appropriate treatment has been performed.

※About sodium hypochlorite

  • Sodium hypochlorite is a component of chlorine bleach. Can be substituted with chlorine bleach containing sodium hypochlorite for home use.
  • In the case of sodium hypochlorite 6% (concentration with commercially available chlorine bleach), diluted with 60 times more water, the concentration will be about 1000 ppm.
  • To maintain the disinfecting effect, use the undiluted solution stored in a light-shielding place, and do not store it. (The diluted sodium hypochlorite loses the disinfecting effect over time, so dilute it at the time of disinfection.)
  • Be sure to ventilate well when using. Also, do not use it together, as chlorine gas may come out when mixed with acid detergents.
