Improvement of central Shin-Yokohama

Last update date December 18, 2023

Taking advantage of the convenience as a wide-area transportation terminal such as Shinkansen, etc., we will aim to accumulate diverse and wide-area functions such as business and commerce, and in addition to Shin-Yokohama Park including the northern area of Shin-Yokohama Station and the Yokohama International Stadium, We will systematically maintain the surrounding areas such as the Hazawa district and create a central Shin-Yokohama city center with comprehensive functions.

Formulation of basic maintenance concept for the entire central Shin-Yokohama

It was positioned as "Shin-Yokohama City Center" by the "Yumehama 2010 Plan", and the ideal way of land use and infrastructure development appropriate for the city center were determined, and the Shin-Yokohama Central Development Basic Plan was formulated in June 1999.

(1) Shin-Yokohama district

In addition to the Tokaido Shinkansen, Yokohama Line, and Subway Line, in the future, the Kanagawa Eastern Line will be developed to take advantage of transportation convenience, such as the construction of the eastern Kanagawa Line, and to accumulate business, commercial and amusement facilities, cultural and exchange facilities.
In addition, we will promote the development of Shin-Yokohama Station and the area around the station to further strengthen terminal functions and create a face in the city center.

(2) Township (small desk) district

Although it has the Yokohama International Stadium, it is surrounded by the Tsurumi River and Toriyama River, where rich nature is breathing. We will improve parks, health, medical care and welfare facilities, as well as sports and recreation.

(3) Niiba district

A district that serves as a base for “manufacturing” in the inland area supported by high basic technology. We will promote the advancement of production technology and strengthen cooperation with R & D functions outside the district, and promote the creation of bustle suitable for the station square, such as accumulating commerce and operations around the station.

(4) Hazawa district

We will promote planned urban development in harmony with nature by maintaining the sharpness of development and conservation. In addition, we push forward town development around station with maintenance of Kanagawa eastern line.
