From the Environmental Future City to SDGs Future City

Yokohama City was selected as an environmental future city in 2011, and has developed economically while reducing environmental impact, and has been actively promoting community development initiatives to improve the quality of citizens' lives. In the future, we will stage up the efforts of the Environmental Future City, and based on the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) agreed by the world, the environmental future city, Yokohama will simultaneously solve environmental, economic and social issues. We are working to further develop from the perspective of solutions and global partnerships and evolve as a "SDGs (Esode-Jiz) Future City".

“SDGsFutureCity”

“FutureCity” Initiative (“FutureCity” Initiative (Inishi Achibu))
The “Environmental Future City” concept is one of 21 national strategic projects positioned in the country's “New Growth Strategy” (Cabinet decision in June 2010). Not only so-called environmental issues, but also a well-balanced and rich city that responds to a super-aging society and demonstrates the creativity of the city to create vitality, that is, `` a town where everyone wants to live '' We aim to create a vibrant city. In addition, by disseminating these results both domestically and internationally, it will lead to economic revitalization.
In December 2011, Yokohama City was selected by the government as an "Environmental Future City".
