Hamana-chan cooking contest
In order to raise understanding of agricultural products produced in Yokohama City and interest in school lunches, the “Hamana-chan Cooking Contest”, which proposes a new school lunch menu using vegetables and fruits from the city for elementary school students, was held in 2003. We hold. Every year, elementary school student's unique recipes are introduced, and some of them are actually used in school lunch's menu.

Simultaneous supply of agricultural products produced in the city for school lunches
Since 2006, as an initiative to promote the use of agricultural and livestock products produced in the city for school lunches, we have been supplying vegetables from the city to all elementary schools and special support schools in the city during local production and local consumption month in November. . The use of agricultural and livestock products produced in the city for school lunches is an opportunity for elementary school student to learn about the area through ingredients and deepen their knowledge of local culture and history. In fiscal 2022, the school lunch "Kenchin soup" made using radish produced in the city, was provided to 316 schools in the city.
