Direct payment grant for environmental conservation type agriculture

About environmental conservation type agriculture direct payment grant

Environmental conservation type agriculture direct payment grant is based on the "Law Concerning the Promotion of Multifunctional Functions of Agriculture (enforced on April 1, 2015)" to maintain and demonstrate the multifunctional functions of agriculture and rural areas. It is implemented as one of the initiatives to plan.
In addition to efforts to reduce chemical fertilizers and synthetic pesticides by more than 50% in principle, we will promote environmental conservation agriculture to groups and others engaged in farming activities that are highly effective in preventing global warming and biodiversity conservation according to their area.

Note: In this system, this system is a mechanism for granting grants within the budget. If the total amount of application exceeds the budget amount, the grant amount may be reduced.

Targets of support

Application in a group of farmers is the basis.
The following two requirements must be met.

  1. Producing crops that reduce chemical fertilizers and synthetic pesticides by 50% or more or organic farming for the purpose of sale
  2. Practicing international standard GAP
    Note: Please refer to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries website (outside site) and the Kanagawa Prefecture website (outside site) for the practice of international standard GAP.

Initiatives to be supported and unit price of support

The following 1 or 2 initiatives are eligible.

  1. When chemical fertilizers and synthetic pesticides are reduced by 50% or more in principle from local practices, and efforts are made to combine any of the following (1) to (6)
    (1)Cover crop (green manure)…8,000 yen/10 ares
    Efforts to prevent soil erosion, etc., by planting barley etc. during the period when the main crop is not cultivated.
    (2)Compost application…4,400 yen/10 ares
    Efforts to apply a certain amount of compost with a C/N ratio (carbon ratio) of 10 or more
    (3)Comprehensive pest and weed management [IPM]…8,000 yen/10 ares
    Regionally-approved initiatives in Kanagawa Prefecture - Target crops: Vegetables (forcing and semi-promoted tomatoes, semi-promoted cucumbers, strawberries)
    In an effort to control by natural enemies, microbial pesticides, insect repellent nets, soil reduction disinfection, etc., and it is a requirement to perform at least 80% of the efforts in line with the IPM practice index. Note: Please refer to the website of Kanagawa Prefecture for IPM Practical Indicators.
    (4)Living mulch (target crop: field crops)…5,000 yen to 8,000 yen/10 ares
    Efforts to cover farmland by planting wheat and pastures between ridges of main crops to prevent soil erosion.
    (5)Grasss cultivation (target crops: fruit trees and tea)…5,000 Yen/10 ares
    Efforts to cover farmland by planting wheat and pastures in the orchard of the main crop to cover farmland and prevent soil erosion.
    Note: From 2012, in this prefecture, special treatment of 30% reduction of chemically synthesized pesticides by 30% will be applied to pears and grapes (open field cultivation, Kyoho-type quadrupled varieties). (Reduction of chemical fertilizers by 50%)
    (6)Water inundation management in winter (target crop: paddy rice)…4,000 yen to 8,000 yen/10 ares
    Efforts to fill paddy fields during the winter season
  2. When conducting organic agriculture initiatives and activities (promotion activities) to expand environmental conservation-type agriculture initiatives in the community…8,000 yen/10 ares
