Nature-Green, Flowers, Agriculture and Green Space Conservation Management Plan

Last Updated June 28, 2024

Many forest areas such as Shimin-no-Mori are preserved in Yokohama City. In order to properly manage the protected forest land, it is necessary to consider the information on the flora and fauna that inhabits it, human activities and usage status, the history and nature of the land. Yokohama City is advancing management by combining the "Yokohama City Forest Creation Guidelines", which are standard work technical guidelines that match the actual conditions of forested areas in the city, and the "Conservation Management Plan" that takes into account the characteristics of individual forest areas.

Yokohama City Forest Creation Guidelines

Yokohama City has compiled the "Yokohama City Forest Creation Guidelines" as a material that can be shared by citizens involved in forest creation and the government in order to perform higher quality management of forest areas such as Shimin-no-Mori.

Maintenance Management Plan

The Forest Creation Guidelines, which serve as a guideline for the creation of forests such as Shimin-no-Mori. However, actual forest management requires more detailed plans tailored to the actual conditions of each forest. Therefore, we are working on the formulation of a conservation management plan as a plan for each forest. Stakeholders such as citizen volunteers and the government cooperate to determine the target figure (vegetation), work content, role sharing, etc.
Just as some people like bright forests or dark quiet forests, there are different forests that love for creatures. It is important to organize various views and share issues through the formulation of a conservation management plan, share issues, and to firmly determine and manage the forest we are aiming for.
