Purpose

We will implement a community cycle project as an initiative that contributes to the revitalization of the city center, tourism promotion and low carbon, which are positioned in the "Yokohama Urban Transportation Plan", "Kannai / Sekigai Revitalization Promotion Plan" and "Environmental Future City Plan".
Starting from a three-year social experiment, we will shift to full-scale implementation from 2014, aiming to expand the scale and improve user convenience, and aim to further increase and spread the use.

What is the Community Cycle?

  • A cheap price that offers bicycles as a means of transportation in urban areas.
  • A system in which multiple lending bases are set up in certain areas and can be rented and returned at any port.

  • 8 years from April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2014 (extended up to 10 years)

(2)Regions

  • Naka Ward, Nishi Ward, Minami Ward and Kanagawa Ward based on MM21 and Kannai-District.

(3)Scale

  • 1,000 bicycles, 95 rental and return bases (ports) (as of March 31, 2020)

(4)Subject

  • (Operating entity) DOCOMO Bikeshare Ltd.

Role assignment

(1)Implementing Subject: Role of Yokohama City

  • Oversight of Operations
  • Partial burden of usage fees (conducted until FY2018)
  • Preparation of operating offices, backyards and port candidate sites
  • Public information to promote community cycle as a public transportation system

(2)Role of the Operating Body

  • Facility maintenance and operation (installation and management of cycle port facilities and bicycles, etc.)
  • Securing cycle port sites for scale expansion
  • Implement projects associated with the community cycle to improve profitability.
    (Community cycle fee income and incidental business revenue is the revenue of the operating entity.)
