Waterside Rakuen Project

※What is the "Waterside Raku School Project"?
This project is being carried out by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to make necessary maintenance to make waterside activities safe and fulfilling.
The purpose of the project is as follows.
・Create a regional cooperation system that supports children's play on the waterside
・Creating a safe waterside full of natural environment
・Waterfront maintenance is provided as a playground for children full of nature and a place to experience nature.
In Yokohama City, the Umeda River was registered in the "Waterside Raku School Project" in 1998, and the environment was improved in conjunction with river renovation work.

※In Yokohama City, 1.1km from "Ipponbashi Medaka Hiroba" to Neju Bridge on the Umeda River is being implemented as the "Umeda River / Waterside Raku School Project".
Citizens and the government are working together to ensure that the river can be used as a place for children to experience waterside experiences, play and learn while protecting the rich natural environment of the basin.
This project consists of the "Umeda River / Waterside Raku School Council" and the "Umeda River / River Development Workshop".
Umeda River and Waterside Raku School Council
The Umeda River / Waterside Raku School Council is an organization in which citizens and the government are united to protect and utilize the rich natural environment of the Umeda River basin and consider utilization.
We have been publishing basin maps and "Waterside Rakuen Shimbun Newspaper", and have been conducting events such as "Making the Umeda River" using basin products. Day "is held every summer.
[Purpose of the Umeda River and Waterside Raku School Council]
While cherishing the nature of the Umeda River and its basin.
It is a place where people can gather and relax, and as a place for experience and learning.
Through the use of this nature, children can be healthy.
The aim is to support and nurture growth.
■Activities
●We value the nature of the Umeda River and its basin, and work together with children on nature experiences, play, and learning.
●We preserve and restore the rich natural environment of the Umeda River and its basin, such as water, paddy fields, fields, and forests, so that a variety of creatures can inhabit.
●We will discuss the use and maintenance of the basin with the Umeda River, work with the government and stakeholders, and call on more citizens to participate.
●Through waterside activities, we will expand the circle of people who protect and nurture the Umeda River and its basin in the future.
