PFI project for sewage sludge fuel
Last Updated July 20, 2022
Yokohama City collects sludge generated during the process of treating sewage at two sludge recycling centers in the city. Until now, we have been working to make effective use of resources, such as 100% effective use of biogas and sludge incinerated ash generated during the treatment process.
In this project, along with the renewal of the sludge incinerator in Nambu Sludge Treatment Plant, the treatment process was switched from incineration to fuel to promote measures against global warming and further effective utilization of resources. ※In addition to maintaining 1, maintenance and operation will be performed.
The implementation of the project is implemented in a PFI project that can utilize the technical capabilities and funds of the private sector.
*1 A facility that manufactures bio-derived fuels that replace fossil fuels using sludge generated during the sewage treatment process as raw materials. The conversion of the system from incineration to the production of fuel chemicals is expected to significantly reduce greenhouse gases generated during the sludge incineration process.
