Last Updated February 22, 2019
Beginning | Two years after the opening of the port, 1861, a gutter was built for the first time along with the improvement of the road at the settlement, and the drainage channel of the landfill was built with stone walls in the following two years. In 1869, pottery pipes were buried throughout the Kannai settlement under the design and supervision of Blanton, an Englishman hired by the Lighthouse Bureau since 1869, completed in 1879. During the Meiji 14-20, this was completely remodeled into brick egg-shaped tubes. In addition, sewers such as Kannai and Motomachi, which are adjacent to Yamate and Kannai Settlement, have been developed. In 1882 Kanagawa Prefecture established the Sewage Structure Regulations, and the sewage of each house in the city should be a ceramic pipe in principle. The total sewer length of the settlement transferred to the city at the time of the return of the settlement in 1899 was 88,247m, but other urban areas are unknown. |
