BeginningTwo years after the opening of the port, 1861, a gutter was built for the first time along with the improvement of the road at the settlement, and the drainage channel of the landfill was built with stone walls in the following two years.
In 1869, pottery pipes were buried throughout the Kannai settlement under the design and supervision of Blanton, an Englishman hired by the Lighthouse Bureau since 1869, completed in 1879.
During the Meiji 14-20, this was completely remodeled into brick egg-shaped tubes. In addition, sewers such as Kannai and Motomachi, which are adjacent to Yamate and Kannai Settlement, have been developed. In 1882 Kanagawa Prefecture established the Sewage Structure Regulations, and the sewage of each house in the city should be a ceramic pipe in principle.
The total sewer length of the settlement transferred to the city at the time of the return of the settlement in 1899 was 88,247m, but other urban areas are unknown.
1937The city planning sewerage survey, which has been pending since 1923, has been completed, but has not been started due to the Sino-Japanese War and World War II.
1950In the first phase of sewerage business, we started the public sewerage business with the approval of the construction of the Shiota area of Tsurumi Ward Shiota, Heian and Market districts. Started to improve the surface of the northern processing zone.
1951Collection of sewerage usage fees associated with the enforcement of sewerage regulations.
1953Sewerage fee revision.
1955Operation of Shiota Pumping Station started.
1957For the first time, we started construction of a sewer system including a wastewater treatment plant.

1963With the enactment of the Emergency Measures Law for Improvement of Living Environment Facilities, a five-year plan (FY1938-42) was formulated with a total project cost of 17 billion yen.
Started to improve the surface of the southern processing zone.
1964The corporate accounting method is applied to the sewerage business due to a partial revision of the Local Public Enterprise Law.
Sueyoshi Pumping Station started operation.
1965Started operation of the Southern Sewage Treatment Plant.
Operation of Isogo Pumping Station.
1966Kikuna pumping station started operation.
Started the main line of Kanagawa Processing Zone and Kanazawa Processing Zone.
1967The second five-year plan (Showa 42-46) was approved by the Cabinet based on the Sewerage Improvement Emergency Measures Law, and the city has also formulated a second five-year plan of 46.5 billion yen.
Operation of the Komaoka Pump Station started.
Started the main line of Kohoku Processing Zone.
1968Sewerage fee revision - Treatment area fee revision.
Started operation of No. 1 Sewage Treatment Plant.
1969The area has been expanded to the entire area, and the construction of sewerage systems in the surrounding area has begun.
Started the main line of Tozuka Processing Zone.
1970Sakuragi Pumping Station started operation.
Started to improve the surface of the Kohoku Processing Zone.
1971Formulated the third five-year plan (150 billion yen) with fiscal 1971 as the first year.
1972Started operation of Tozuka Sewage Treatment Plant and Kohoku Sewage Treatment Plant
Operation of Tsurumi pumping station and Kita-Tsunashima pumping stations started.
Started maintenance of the main line of the green treatment zone and the Tozuka processing area.
1973Started operation of the wastewater treatment plant at Torihama Plant. New Sewerage Ordinance was established - Additional sewerage fee collection started.
Operation of Rokuura Pumping Station started.
1975Sewerage usage fee revision - adopts a gradual increase rate system.
1976Formulated the 4th Five-Year Plan (313.5 billion yen) with 1976 as the first year.
Started to improve the surface of Kanagawa Processing Zone.
1977Started operation of green sewage treatment plant.
Started to improve the surface of the green treatment zone.
1978Sewerage fee revision.
Kanagawa Sewage Treatment Plant started operation.
Started operation of the Shinhawa pumping station and Hodogaya pumping station.
Started to improve the surface of the Kanazawa Processing Zone, the main line of the western processing zone.
1979Operation of Kanazawa Sewage Treatment Plant started.
Tozuka pumping station started operation.
1981Formulated the fifth five-year plan (739.0 billion yen) with 1981 as the first year. Established Sewerage Business Study Group.
Sewerage usage fee revision-5% of capital cost for general wastewater. Started operation of the northern second sludge incineration facility.
Started operation of Kanazawa Pump Station
Started to improve the surface of the western processing zone.
1982Operation of Kasama Pumping Station started.
1983Started operation in western sewage treatment plant.
1984Started operation of Northern No. 2 Sewage Treatment Plant and Totsuka Daiichi Sewage Treatment Plant
1985Sewerage fee revision. [Capital cost ratio: 30%, average revision rate: 46%]
Takada Pumping Station started operation.
1986Formulated the 6th Five-Year Plan (610 billion yen) with the first year of 1986.
Started operation of the Chubu Sewage Treatment Plant.
Kamoi and Kawamukai pumping station started operation.
1987Established Sewerage Business Study Group.
Started operation of the northern sludge treatment center.
Operation of Kamisueyoshi pumping station and Mansei pumping station.
1989Started operation of the Southern sludge treatment center.
1991Formulated the 7th Five-Year Plan (612.0 billion yen) with fiscal 1991 as the first year.
Egasaki pumping station started operation.
1993Sewerage fee revision. [Capital expenses accounted for 60%, average revision rate: 22.7%]
Hiranuma pumping station started operation.
1995Egawa murmuring service started.
1996Sewerage fee revision. [Capital cost accounting rate: 78.4%, average revision rate: 13.1%]
Takinogawa murmuring service started.
1997Start of Yumehama 2010 Plan (Heisei 9-13)

Formulation of water environment master plan.
Operation of Isogo No.2 pumping station started.
2000Started operation of the third pumping station at Chubu Sewage Treatment Plant.
2002Start of the Medium-Term Policy Plan (Heisei 14-18)
2003Operation of Kusu Pump Station started.
2004Started operation of the second pump facility in Northern No. 2 Sewage Treatment Plant
2005The lower Water Works Bureau, the Green Administration Bureau and the Environmental Conservation Bureau will be merged into Environmental Planning Bureau.
Each treatment plant was renamed the water recycling center, and the sludge treatment center was renamed the sludge recycling center.
2006Yokohama City Sewerage Business Medium-Term Management Plan 2007.
2007The junction improvement facility "Yamashita Pump Station Rainwater Reservoir" is in operation.
