1. System in general

Q
1 What kind of accidents are covered by this insurance?
A

It covers two types of accidents: liability accidents and injury accidents.

(1)Loss Liability Accidents
Injuries to others, damages others' property, and is liable for legal damages during volunteer activities.

(2)Injury accident
If you are killed or injured during volunteer activities. Payment is made if you die or get injured due to a sudden and accidental outpatient accident, not due to illness.

2 Do I need to register my name in advance to receive social movement insurance? Also, how much is the insurance premium?
A

Registration and application are not required.
There is no need to pay insurance premiums (Yokohama City bears it) 。
You will need to complete the procedure after the accident has occurred.
The procedure requires documents that objectively understand the contents of the volunteer activity, such as the rules of the organization and activity plan.
If you cannot confirm the contents of the activity in the documents, you will not be eligible for social activity insurance, so please spell out the activities of the group on a daily basis and arrange the list and activity plan of the activists.

2 Eligible volunteer activities and activists

3 What kind of volunteer activities are eligible?
A

Activities that meet all of the following four requirements:

  1. Activities carried out by voluntary groups and individuals, as well as by Neighborhood Association Neighborhood Associations, a local community organization.
  2. No compensation (excluding the payment of actual expenses such as transportation expenses)
  3. Activities that are carried out continuously and systematically
  4. Activities with Public Interest

4 If I receive transportation expenses, is it not covered by this insurance?
A

It is eligible.
Items consumed during activities such as transportation expenses, food expenses, and material charges are not considered rewards.
Money paid as compensation for labor and those with the nature of increasing every hour are considered rewards regardless of the height of the amount.

5 Are cleaning only on the premises of housing complex and condominiums?
A

It is not eligible.
This is because cleaning only shared management areas, such as housing complex and condominiums, is a common activity.
In addition, when cleaning not only the site but also the surrounding public roads and parks, it may be eligible as a public beautification activity.

6 Are the activities of nearby parks covered by the Neighborhood Association activities covered?
A

Cleaning of places used by unspecified large numbers of people, such as parks, is a public interest activity, so if other requirements (see answer to question number 3) such as continuous and planned activities are met It becomes eligible.

7 I fell down on my way to the volunteer activity site and was injured. This is an accident before volunteering, is it eligible?
A

Accidents on round-trip routes are also covered.
However, please note that if you stop by somewhere for private use, it may not be eligible.

8 Are those who attended the regional revitalization event hosted by Neighborhood Association eligible?
A

It is not eligible.
Since social movement insurance is intended for volunteer activists, it does not cover accidents involving visitors or participants to events or events.
However, committee members who plan and operate public interest events are eligible.

※Recreation insurance handled by each insurance company is insurance to compensate for accidents of participants, such as visitors to events and events.

9 Are participants in disaster drill eligible?
A

It is not eligible.
This is because training is a mutual aid activity and cannot be directly contributed to society or others.
However, training plan / operator and instructor are eligible. The same applies to training organized by the ward. Please clearly state the actors and roles in advance.

10 There was an earthquake during volunteer activities, and I was injured in my head due to falling objects. Is it eligible?
A

Accidents caused by natural disasters such as earthquakes, eruptions, and tsunami are not covered.

※As insurance for volunteer activists who compensate for injuries caused by natural disasters, there is "Volunteer Activity Insurance (Natural Disaster Type)" of the Japan National Council of Social Welfare.

11 I found a person who was falling on the road on my way to work and tried to help me. Is it eligible if I could not support it and fall and get injured?
A

It is not eligible.
This is because social movement insurance covers public interest activities that are being carried out continuously and systematically. Temporary goodwill actions and sudden rescue of life are not eligible.

3 Loss Liability Accidents

12 As a volunteer leader of the youth baseball team, while driving a car and taking a member to the baseball field, (1) I hit a person and injured him. (2)I hit a telephone pole and injure the members on board. (3)I hit a telephone pole and got injured myself. Are you covered by insurance?
A

Car liability accidents are not covered.
(3)・It is eligible. If the volunteer activist (driving, guidance, etc.) dies or is injured, it will be subject to an injury accident.

13 We have concluded an agreement between the parties. Will the insurance be paid?
A

If the contents of the settlement bear the amount within the legal liability, the amount of compensation can be covered by insurance money (within the insurance limit).
However, if you do not have legal liability, you pay exemptions only for moral reasons, even if you are liable, you will unnecessarily pay a large amount of compensation, or pay a dispute without the consent of the insurance company. If you do, the insurance money will only be paid objectively and reasonable amount, so you may not be able to cover the amount of compensation with insurance money.
Please let us know before making an appointment only between the parties.

4 Injury Accident

14 Are heat stroke eligible?
A

It is not eligible.

Deaths or injuries caused by sudden and accidental outpatient accidents are eligible.

15 Are food poisoning eligible?
A

Bacterial food poisoning is not eligible.

Poisoning symptoms covered by this insurance are those inhalation of toxic gases or toxic substances from outside the body by accident and sudden (temporary), such as gas poisoning, resulting in poisoning symptoms. However, poisoning symptoms when poisonous substances are mixed in food are eligible.

16 Are the difference beds and the cost of attending nurses at the time of hospitalization covered by insurance?
A

The payment of hospitalization and outpatient insurance is not based on the actual cost, but is a so-called flat-rate payment that pays 3,500 yen per day for hospitalization and 2,500 yen per day for outpatients.
