Voting for people with physical disabilities

 If you have visual impairment, you can vote in Braille (braille voting). If you are unable to write your own due to physical disability, etc., the staff at the polling place will fill out the form on behalf of you (substitute voting). If you wish, please contact us at the polling place.

The summary of the minutes of the previous year is as follows.

Aiming at the realization of bright and beautiful elections on a daily basis and participating in total voting, we are promoting the following enlightenment activities, including street enlightenment at the time of election.

The bright election promotion council always carries out various enlightenment.

  • Bright election promotion meeting

Once a year, we hold a bright election promotion tournament in the whole Yokohama City.

  • Senkyo Forum

The Senkyo Forum is a regular enlightenment activity for elections using a participatory learning method, and is conducted in each ward of Yokohama City as a discussion project that will create opportunities to discuss and discuss politics, elections and familiar living issues. . Konan Ward's primary objective is to improve the participation of young people.

Number of registered users

 The right to vote is any Japanese citizen over the age of 18. But it is necessary to be registered in electoral list to vote even if you have the right to vote. Those who are registered in the electoral list are those who have been registered in the Basic Resident Register for at least three months since the date the resident certificate was created or the transfer notice was received.
 There are two types of registration in the electoral list: regular registration performed in March, June, September, and December, and election registration, which determines the base date and registration date are determined for each election.

About reading of electoral list

Reading of electoral list is permitted only for the following three points.

  • When the elector confirms that he or she has registered an elector in the same household
  • When a candidate, political party, or other political organization conducts political activities or election campaigns
  • When a national or local government or an academic institution such as a press or university conducts public opinion or academic survey for public purposes.

 Due to the revision of the Public Office Election Law, the Election Administration Committee will publish at least once a year, the name of the applicant, the target of browsing, and the outline of the purpose of use, etc., regarding the status of browsing of the electoral list abstracts.

Absentee vote in other municipalities (stop-in voting)

If you are staying in another municipality until the voting day for travel or business trips, you can request a ballot from Konan Ward and vote at the Election Commission of your accommodation.

Absentee voting by mail (postal voting)

For those with severe physical disabilities and those who need nursing care under the Nursing Care Insurance Law 5, there is a system that allows you to vote by mail at home.
※For absentee voting by mail, it is necessary to receive a "certificate by mail" in advance. Please contact the Election Commission as soon as possible.

Absentee voting at hospitals and nursing homes (institutional voting)

If you are hospitalized or in a hospital or nursing home, if you are designated as a facility where you can vote for absentees, you can vote for absentees at that facility, so please contact the head of the facility.

Even if you live in a foreign country, you can still vote for Japanese national elections.
In order to vote, it is necessary to register in the overseas electoral list in advance.
