Bright Election Promotion Council

Last update date November 9, 2023

The work of establishing democracy is left to our people.
The Bright Election Promotion Council is a private organization that aims to clean elections without fraud and total participation in voting, and is set up in prefectures and municipalities nationwide. In Yokohama, there are a total of 19 bright election promotion councils in the city and 18 wards.
The establishment of a bright election promotion campaign in Yokohama began in November 1962 when the "Yokohama City Komei Election Promotion Council" was established in November 1962. This council aims to realize the conversion of elections, which is the foundation of democracy, to a Komeito party, fosters a sense of public awareness among citizens widely, and strongly promote the voluntary Komei election campaign. It was established for the purpose of deployment.
After the establishment of this council, the Komei Election Promotion Council was first established in the 10 wards from December 1962 to February 38 (1963). In the Komei Election Promotion Campaign promoted by the council of the 10 wards, the central movement is the “Bright and Correct Election Promotion Campaign” (1965) and the “Bright Election Promotion Campaign” (April 1974) In response to the name change, the council has changed each time, and now the name "Bright Election Promotion Council" is used.

The council of each ward is composed of officers and promotion committee members, as well as promotion members (people who practice and promote the business of the council and bright election promotion campaign specifically).

1 Clean election (prohibition of donations)
2 Total participation in voting

We are calling for a bright election with the promotion of elections as a major pillar.
Each council independently hosts a variety of projects, such as workshops and poster contests, and co-sponsor it with the Election Commission to promote more effective enlightenment. In addition, during the election period, we go out on the street and engage in activities to appeal to citizens directly for clean elections and vote participation.

We introduce activity contents to promotion committee, promotion member of city, ward bright election promotion meeting and issue "white rose Yokohama" for the purpose of having you make use for activity.
