What is Food Sanitation Business?

These businesses include “business licenses for food business facilities”, “surveillance and guidance business for food-related facilities”, “food extraction and inspection business”, “businesses such as prevention of food poisoning and cause investigation and prevention of spread”, “ There are promotion business of self-management of food-related business operators” and “spread enlightenment and consultation business on food hygiene ”.

Health and Welfare Center Health Sanitation Division, Yokohama City Public Health Center Food Sanitation Division, Food Specialist Monitoring Team, Food Sanitation Laboratory, Meat Sanitation Laboratory, Meat Sanitation Laboratory, and Hygiene Laboratory.
The operations performed at each business site are as follows.

Health and Welfare Center Health Sanitation Division

Health and Welfare Center Health Sanitation Division is located in the general government buildings of each ward, and is engaged in contact with citizens and business operators, such as consultation on food hygiene, permission surveys of food-related business facilities, monitoring and guidance on facilities, and raising awareness of food hygiene.
In addition, we conduct various tasks such as investigating the cause of food poisoning and preventing the spread of damage and recurrence.

Yokohama City Public Health Center Food Sanitation Division

We work on planning food hygiene-related business planning and coordinating with the Health and Welfare Center related to the implementation of the business, coordinating and exchanging information with the national government and other local governments.

Food Specialist Monitoring Team

Located within the Food Hygiene Section of Yokohama City Public Health Center,Health and Welfare Center provides monitoring and guidance and inspection of food sampling and inspection of food for large mass retailers such as imported food dealers and department stores in the city, and large-scale food manufacturing facilities.

Central Wholesale Market Food Sanitation Laboratory

There is a central wholesale market that handles fresh fish and vegetables in the city. In the market, a wide variety of foods are distributed in large quantities, and we have set up a food hygiene inspection station to ensure the safety of these distributed foods.
The Food Sanitation Laboratory conducts inspections for fresh fish and vegetables distributed in the market, bacteria, additives, pesticide residues, etc. in processed foods, eliminates violations and defective foods, and provides guidance on monitoring facilities in the market. .

Meat Sanitation Laboratory

Yokohama City has a meat market that serves as a base for meat distribution. A meat hygiene laboratory has been set up in the market to ensure meat safety.
The Meat Sanitation Laboratory inspects cattle and pigs one by one, discarding parts that are not suitable for food, and provides guidance on maintaining facilities in the market sanitary.
The BSE inspection, which began nationwide in 2001, is conducted by the Meat Guardian Test.
In addition, we conduct permission surveys, monitoring guidance, and sampling inspections of poultry processing facilities in the city, and strive to secure safe and sanitary poultry meat.

The Health Research Institute inspects bacteria, additives, and various harmful substances in foods extracted from food-related facilities in the city by the Food Special Monitoring Team and the Health and Welfare Center.
In addition, we conduct inspections to determine the cause of food poisoning and inspections on food complaints from citizens received by Health and Welfare Center.
In addition, we are conducting research on food hygiene.
