Why was Imagine Yokohama born?

"Imagine Yokohama" was born on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the opening of the port to raise citizens' pride and attachment to Yokohama and to strengthen their ability to communicate externally.

Background of this project

Era of non-expansion and growth

  • Urban management difficulties (increase in expenses, decrease in income)
  • Tax revenue is flat or decreasing trend (population has been declining since 2020, and personal municipal tax is large)
  • Increase in welfare expenses

Characteristics of the City

  • Bet Town in the Tokyo metropolitan area (the ratio of day and night, employment rate outside the city)
  • Purchasing power outflow (sales of city products to population)

Global intercity competition

  • It is not well known internationally
  • There is a small concentration of global companies

Image of Yokohama

  • Port, the sea
  • Exoticism, internationality
  • Minato-Yokohama's charm and value are not widely shared

What is Yokohama citizens?

  • Since the opening of the port, people from Japan and abroad have gathered to develop the city.
  • Openness to accept diverse cultures
  • An enterprising spirit that always incorporates new technologies and cultures

Purpose of the project

Yokohama citizens will work together to enhance their pride and attachment to Yokohama.
Enhance attachment and promote participation in local activities.
Strengthen the ability to communicate the appeal of Yokohama to the outside.
Attracting people and businesses to maintain the vitality of the city.

  • It is expressed in a simple message or mark.
  • Indicates the direction of future brand development.
