Yokohama City Arts and Culture Education Platform (Art and Culture Education Program Promotion Project)

Last Updated March 29, 2019

What is the Yokohama City Arts and Culture Education Platform?

In order to foster the creativity of children in Yokohama and expand opportunities to nurture rich emotions, the arts and culture education platform is a place where companies, local residents, and the government can gradually cooperate and collaborate with art NPOs and art organizations that continue to work in Yokohama and other places and local cultural facilities. Through the "school program" that connects school education and art, we explore new possibilities of art.

What is a school program?

Artists go directly to school.

The school program is an arts and culture and education project for children, which started in 2004. Artists who are active in a wide range of fields, such as music, drama, dance, art, and traditional performing arts, go directly to school. There are two types, "experience-based program" and "appreciation-type program".

Use the power of art to create the foundation for learning.

We value the process in which children recognize and extend each other's power through the creativity of arts and culture. In addition to linking with subjects, art is what exerts its power in building the basics of learning, such as fostering communication skills. We hope that children's learning activities will be richer by guiding free ideas and fostering sensibilities.

The coordinator and the teacher will adjust the content of the program.

In the school program, staff who are usually active in cultural facilities and arts organizations support the creation of classes as coordinators to coordinate the content of the school. An effective program can be implemented by combining the information possessed by the teacher, such as the target grade and the aim of the subject and the subject, and the state of the usual school, with the coordinator's expertise in the field of culture and arts.
