Yokohama City General disaster drill was held in Kanagawa Ward

On August 30, the first day of the Disaster Prevention Week, Yokohama City General disaster drill was held at Kanagawa Ward Yamauchi Wharf.
The training was attended by many disaster prevention organizations such as the Kanagawa Prefectural Police, Japan Coast Guard, and the Self-Defense Forces, as well as residents of the Kanagawa Autonomous Federation and Neighborhood Associations in Kougaya District. The training was conducted on the assumption that there was a large number of injured due to the collapse of houses, road damage, and fires centered on wooden houses following an earthquake with magnitude 8.1 in Sagami Bay and a maximum seismic intensity of 7, in the city. We carried out assuming that there was.
Immediately after the earthquake, residents carried out safety confirmation, rescue and rescue drills to evacuate those who need assistance and injured, and initial-stage fire-fighting techniques. activities using water fire extinguisher and stand-pipe initial-stage fire-fighting techniques. equipment. Furthermore, assuming that a tsunami warning was announced, all residents spoke and evacuated to a hill by broadcasting of the "Tsunami Warning Transmission System".

emergency road (closed in the event of major earthquake) andPublic Works Office conducted road enlightenment drills. Road enlightenment refers to opening a rescue route as soon as possible so that even one lane can pass, for emergency vehicles to pass. In the event of a large-scale disaster, road enlightenment is required to secure a rescue route before emergency recovery. In addition, emergency risk assessment was made by the Association of Architects to judge the danger of building collapse due to emergency measures for water pipe rupture and aftershocks.
Relief supplies will be supplied based on mutual support agreements between nine prefectures and cities. During the training, relief supplies that arrived on vehicles of the prefectural truck associations were transferred to small trucks such as red caps to evacuation shelter at Sugeta Elementary School, Ikegami Elementary School, and Hazawa Elementary School, which require immediate supply of supplies. We carried it.

Through training, I once again realized the importance of self support and community support. First of all, it is important to have a strong awareness of protecting your own life and to think about actions in the event of an earthquake. Most of the deaths and injuries caused by earthquakes are caused by collapse of houses, broken glass or falling objects. If an earthquake occurs when you are indoors, it is important to practice 1-2-3 safety action on the spot, "First lower, protect your head, and do not move". Specifically, 1. First, lower your posture and approach the ground, 2. Enter under a fixed desk or table, protect your head, use your arms and luggage to protect your head, 3. and stay in motion until the shaking stops. The training in which many people perform this action at once is called shakeout training.

First, lower, protect your head, and not moving.

As part of community support's efforts, safety confirmation and initial-stage fire-fighting techniques., which are jointly conducted by local people, are very effective in reduce disaster damage. It is not well known that the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake lost more than 6,000 precious lives, but more than 30,000 people were rescued from under the rubble. Of these, about 20% were rescued by the fire department, police, and SDF, and others were rescued by nearby residents and families. The more catastrophe becomes, the more precious life will be saved by helping each other and community support, such as Neighborhood Association. The disaster drill in the self support and community support efforts will be made to reduce the damage. We ask that you actively participate in the disaster drill held in each region for yourself and your family.
Thank you very much for all the members of the Kanagawa Autonomous Federation and the Kougaya District Union Neighborhood Associations who participated in this general disaster drill.
