Izumi Ward chronology

The current Izumi Ward was called Kamakura-gun, Sagami country (partly Koza-gun) until the Edo period, and in the Meiji era it was changed to Kamakura-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture in the Meiji era. The history of Izumi Ward can be traced back to about 100 years, and following the main events:

Kamakura-gun18781878With the enforcement of the municipal organization law, the large ward and small ward system was abolished, and county offices were established in the county and Tocho office in the village.
18841884The heads of each village have been abolished, and the Union Tocho Office was set up at Chofuku-ji Temple in Izumi-mura and Kodoji Temple in Okazu Village
18891889Kamiiida, Shimoiida, Izumi, and Nakata merged with the implementation of municipal and municipal systems, towns and villages, and Okazu, Akuwa, Kamiyabe, Akiba and Naze merged to form Nakagawa Village, Kamakura-gun.
Kakuzaemon Mochida established a silk mill. Since then, silk mills have been established in various locations.
18921892Founded in Naka Wada Elementary School (now Nakawada Elementary School)
19091909 On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the opening of Yokohama Port, the Yokohama City Song and Emblem were established.
19141914A new road between Tozuka and Chogo was opened (construction started in 1902), Tsuruyoshi Narumiya started operating a carriage.
19201920A new road between Tozuka and Chogo has been certified as a prefectural road, and Tsuruya Automobile Company started operating a shared bus
19211921Established Nakanakagawa Elementary School (now Okazu Elementary School).
19231923In the Great Kanto Earthquake, 328 out of 730 houses were completely destroyed in Nakawada Village and 138 out of 623 units in Nakagawa Village were completely destroyed.
19261926Prefectural road is opened from Fudozaka in Tozuka to Kannon Terashita in Akuwa (construction started in 1921).
19281928 Aizawa Automobile Store starts operating a shared bus between Tozuka and Akuwa.
19321932 Passenger aircraft started night flights between Tokyo and Osaka, and an air lighthouse was installed at Fujiyama (Fujizuka), commonly known as Yokone Inari, Izumi-cho (removaled in 1944).
Former Totsuka Ward19391939Yokohama City will implement the sixth city area expansion, with one town and seven villages (Tozuka, Seya, Nakagawa, Nakawata, Kawakami, Taisho, Toyoda, Hongo) will be incorporated into Totsuka Ward.
At the time of the Totsuka Ward Office, Shimo-Akuwa was separated and became Shimbashi-cho.
