We are looking for statistical surveyors.

In Yokohama City, as a statistical researcher, we are recruiting people who are engaged in statistical surveys conducted by the national and prefectural governments with an understanding and enthusiasm for statistics.

What is Statistical Investigator?

  • In statistical surveys conducted by the country or prefecture, the person who distributes, collects, and checks the questionnaire is called a "statistical researcher."
  • Statistical surveyors are at the forefront of the survey site and are responsible for the most important part of the statistical survey, interacting directly with the households and offices to be surveyed.

  • National census
  • Economic Census
  • Agriculture and Forestry Census
  • Housing and Land Statistics Survey
  • Basic Survey on Employment Structure
  • Structural Survey of Japan
  • Labor Force Survey
  • Household Survey
  • Monthly labor statistics survey, etc.

Work of Statistical Investigator

Although the content varies slightly depending on the survey, it is generally as follows.

  1. Attendance at Investigator’s briefing
  2. Confirmation of the scope of the survey area in charge and the survey target
  3. Distribution of questionnaire and request for filling out
  4. Collection, inspection and arrangement of questionnaires
  5. Submission of survey documents to the ward office

Status and Treatment of Statistical Investigators

  • During the survey period, you will be a part-time civil servant appointed by the national or prefectural government.
  • It is strictly prohibited by law to disclose what you learned from the survey to the outside.
  • Accidents during investigation activities are subject to compensation for public affairs accidents.
  • Remuneration will be paid as compensation for engagement in research activities.

Requirements for Statistical Investigators

  • Those who are over 20 years old
  • Those who can carry out statistical survey work responsibly
  • Those who can comply with the confidentiality protection
  • Those who are not directly involved in tax affairs, police and elections
  • Those who are not members of gangs or gangster closely related parties
  • Those who do not interfere with research activities

How to become a statistical researcher

  • Please contact the ward office (General Affairs Division Statistics and Elections Section) where you wish to engage in.
  • When conducting a survey, the ward office will request a researcher to work, taking into account the scale of the survey and the target area.
