2003 (11th) Fisheries Census
Last update date November 2, 2021
The Fisheries Census (under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Key Statistics) clarifies the production structure and employment structure of Japan's fisheries, comprehensively grasps the actual situation and changes surrounding fisheries such as fishing villages, marine product distribution and processing industries. It has been implemented for the purpose of creating and providing basic materials for planning, drafting, and promoting fisheries administrative measures based on the Fisheries Basic Plan.
It began in 1949 (Showa 24), and has been implemented every five years since 1963 (Showa 38).
