What is an individual study abroad?
Yokohama City grants a subsidy (up to 400,000 yen) for studying abroad expenses for students enrolled in high schools in Yokohama city or students who live in the city and are enrolled in high schools outside the city It is a recruitment frame. You can apply from an individual, but you need to check the contents at the high school where you are enrolled and submit it from the school.
※High schools, etc.…High school, secondary school (second term), special support school (high school), technical college (1st to 3rd grade) or vocational school (high school)
※Live in the city: If you are a dormitory student and reside outside the city, please consult with the Family Registry Division of each district regarding the handling of resident certificate.

We are looking for about 10 to 20 people.
Eligibility
Those who meet all of the following.
However, those who have been subsidized in this project so far (including those who have received a decision on assistance and are expected to receive assistance) are not eligible.
1 Students enrolled in high schools in the city, or students who live in the city and are enrolled in high schools outside the city
2 The study period is approximately one year.
3 In a health condition that does not interfere with studying abroad
4 Being interested in international understanding and international exchange, and having a willingness to contribute to mutual understanding and friendship with countries and regions overseas.
5 Received the recommendation of the principal of the high school where you are enrolled.
Eligible Study Abroad
1 Study abroad for approximately one year in order to regularly attend regular secondary education institutions in foreign countries.
2 Those departing between April 1, 2004 and March 31, 2006
※However, expenses paid by Friday, February 28, 2025 are eligible for assistance.
Documents to be submitted [Individual Study Abroad]
1 Youth support business application (nineth style) aiming at Yokohama-shi world (word: 31KB)
2 Schedule that shows the period of study abroad and the details of activities at the destination.
3 Leaflets, etc. that give an overview of the educational institution where you study abroad.
4 Copy of documents that show the amount and breakdown of subsidized expenses and the timing of payment of expenses
5 If you have received scholarships, etc. related to study abroad from another organization, a copy of documents that show the amount of scholarships, etc. to be paid and the timing of the payment.
6 Copy of documents proving that students are permitted to study abroad at a foreign high school (if they cannot be submitted at the time of application, submit them as soon as they are obtained).
8 Essay on Study Abroad (No. 11 style) (Word: 41KB) ※It must be created by the student himself.
Essays in Japanese from 1,000 to 1,200 characters
For the following three items, please fill in each item with about 300 to 400 characters.
・Purpose, motivation, preparation and attitude of study abroad
・Future Initiatives Utilizing Study Abroad Experience
・How can you return your study abroad experience to the city and its surroundings after returning to Japan?
