[Press Release] Overview of fire and emergency services in the first half of 2023

①"Arson (including suspicion)" is the number one cause of fire for all fires.
　For the fifth consecutive year, “Konro” was the largest number of house fires, and 70% of the deaths from fires were elderly people.
・The total number of fires was 378, an increase of 42 compared to the same period of the previous year, and "Arson (including suspicion)" ranked first with 68. The number of house fires was 140, a decrease of 10 compared to the same period of the previous year, and the cause of fire was "Konro", 32, the highest for the fifth consecutive year.
・Seven people died from the fire, of which 5 (70%) were elderly people.
② Both the number of emergency cases and the number of transport personnel increased at a faster pace than last year, which recorded a record high.
・　The number of emergency participations was 116,999, an increase of 3,772 (3.3%) from the same period of the previous year, which was the highest ever.
・　The number of transport personnel was 94,436, an increase of 2,604 (2.8%) compared to the same period of the previous year, a record high. Looking at the ratio of transport personnel by age, 56.4% for elderly people and 52.4% for moderate or higher by degree of injury and illness. .
・　In particular, the number of “newborn infants” under the age of seven was 7,971, an increase of 2,045 (34.5%) compared to the same period of the previous year.
・　The number of transporters with fever increased sharply, and in June it increased by 1,335 (24.4%) compared to the same month last year.
