Although the 2021 Games were held during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was highly regarded as the "Yokohama Model" as a standard for future international sports competitions. In addition, despite severe restrictions, the creative hospitality unique to Yokohama has received praise from all over the world.
On the other hand, the new lifestyle caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has diluted connections with people, and has changed the social connections that humans have inherently. In the 2022 Games, we will leverage our experience so far to communicate "bonds with people" and "power of community" from Yokohama through the holding of the Games, thereby reconnecting "people-to-people", "players and spectators", and "Yokohama and the world" to foster "vitality" in a society that has been stagnated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
