What is the vacant store opening subsidy business?

For those who meet the necessary conditions at a vacant store in the shopping district in the city and open a business, we will assist a part of the expenses required for opening a business. (It will be within the scope of the budget.)
In addition, we carry out management consultation to one who opened a business using this subsidy.

  • There are conditions for granting subsidies. When the candidate for the property has been decided and the opening time has become embodied, please be sure to consult early in advance as soon as possible.
  • If the conditions for grant are no longer met, such as abolition or relocation of the business within one year after opening, please return the subsidy.

Those who can apply

Individuals, corporations (small and medium-sized enterprises), store associations, and various organizations that meet all of the following conditions. However, among small and medium-sized enterprises, deemed large companies (*) are not eligible.
※A deemed large company is a small and medium-sized enterprise that falls under any of the following 1-3.

  1. One large company (non-small and medium-sized enterprises) The same shall apply hereinafter) owns or invests at least half of the total number of issued shares or the total number of shares issued or the total investment.
  2. When multiple large corporations own or invest more than two-thirds of the total number of issued shares or the total investment

  3. Those who meet any of the following conditions
  • (public property) Those who open a business with a plan selected as the final of the Yokohama Corporate Management Support Foundation "Business Grand Prix"
  • Those who open a business with proposals for maintenance subsidies selected in the second contest of City of Yokohama, Urban Development Bureau's "Yokohama Citizen Town Public Contract Business"
  • City of Yokohama, Health and Social Welfare Bureau "Yokohama City Care Prevention Exchange Center Development Project"
  • In addition, those whose commercial promotion section manager recognized.
Conditions for vacant stores
  1. Stores located in the area of the city shopping district
  2. Being a vacant store in a building that directly faces the main road or aisle of the shopping district
  3. Not be a tenant-type store in large commercial facilities such as department stores and station buildings
  4. Store must be at least 3 months after closing from the date of the lease agreement.
※Excludes vacant stores owned by the person or relatives within the third degree.
Conditions for opening
  1. It is expected that the business will be continued for at least one year, and that is opened at least four days a week in principle and operated continuously.
  2. Join a store association in the area where it opens for at least one year
  3. Have the qualifications necessary for opening a business, etc., or have the prospect of having it before opening
  4. Do not delinquent municipal inhabitant tax (special collection, normal collection)
  5. Not be a gangster or a member of a gang. In addition, the representative of the corporation or officer (representative in the case of an organization without a legal personality) must not be a gangster
  6. Not receiving such subsidies in the past three years

 ※As a general rule, opening of business by relocation from shopping street in the city, offices not for visitors are not eligible for assistance.

About application

Application deadline: Until Friday, February 28, 2025 ※Prior consultation until Friday, February 14, 2025

  1. Prior consultation will be made before applying. If you are considering applying, please enter and send information about opening in the advance consultation form (outside site) and send it. After sending it, we will adjust the prior consultation.
  2. After prior consultation, a formal application will be made when all required documents is accepted. You can apply only after the lease agreement is concluded and two weeks before the scheduled opening date. Please note that you will not be able to apply after the submission deadline.
    ※If you meet the requirements for application and it is difficult to apply before the deadline due to lease contracts, etc., please contact us.

<Individuals> Tax certificate and tax payment certificate of municipal tax

<In the case of corporations> Municipal inhabitant tax tax payment certificate (If it cannot be issued due to reasons such as the establishment of a corporation for less than one year at the time of application, you can only submit the municipal tax certificate and tax payment certificate of the representative of the corporation.)

※Those that are within the latest year and within 3 months of issuance, indicating that there is no unpaid

Performance Report

Please submit a performance report within 30 days after the opening of the business or by the end of the relevant fiscal year (Monday, March 31, 2025), whichever comes first.

About management consultation

Experts (small and medium-sized business consultants, etc.) will be dispatched to those who have opened a business using this subsidy to provide management consultation.

It can be used up to twice in one year after the grant amount is determined. In addition, it is mandatory to conduct a business consultation once within six months after the amount of grant is determined.
