In the ordinance on the conservation, etc. of Yokohama City Living Environment, there are the following major regulations related to water quality.

Regulations on drainage

Businesses in the city must comply with regulatory standards (drainage) at drains (Ordinance Article 28).
In addition, businesses with a certain size or more are obliged to measure, record, and preserve the amount of wastewater and water quality (Article 30 of the Ordinance).

Regulations on underground penetration

Businesses must not discharge liquids containing underground infiltration prohibited substances underground in the work of manufacturing, using, processing, and storing underground infiltration prohibited substances (Article 29, Paragraph 1 of the Ordinance).
In addition, the floor and surroundings of the facility where the work is performed must comply with the structural standards to prevent underground penetration (Ordinance Article 29, Paragraph 2).

Construction drainage

When draining wastewater generated by construction work directly to public water bodies, it is necessary to comply with the regulatory standards (drainage) of the ordinance (Ordinance Article 28).
In addition, procedure of report is necessary when we meet the next requirements (the regulations Article 105).
①Drainage generated by construction work is directly discharged into public water bodies.
②The amount of wastewater is 10 m3 or more per day (including domestic wastewater and rainwater that requires wastewater treatment during construction period)

Emergency measures (water quality)

Businesses must immediately take emergency measures and report to Yokohama City when pollution of water pollution occurs or is likely to occur due to accidents that occur at business establishments or accidents of vehicles (Ordinance Article 149, Paragraph 1).
In addition, the business operator that caused the above situation must promptly report the situation of the accident and the outline of the measures taken (Ordinance, Article 149, Paragraph 2).
