Measures to prevent asbestos (asbestos) scattering in the event of a disaster

In the event of a disaster such as an earthquake, buildings that use building materials containing asbestos (asbestos) may collapse or damage, and asbestos may be scattered.

To prevent exposure, pay attention to the following three points.
1.Keep as close as possible to collapsed or damaged buildings and their removal and demolition sites.
2.When clearing debris, building materials that may contain asbestos such as slate will not be cut or crushed as much as possible.
3.When working around buildings that have collapsed or damaged in affected areas, properly wear dust masks that conform to national standards with particle removal efficiency of 95% or more.

The Ministry of the Environment has created a “Handling Manual for Preventing Asbestos Scattering in the Event of a Disaster” and its “Pamphlet” with the aim of preventing asbestos scattering and exposure in the event of a disaster.

Owners or managers of buildings, etc. are supposed to take emergency measures to prevent asbestos scattering and exposure at places where asbestos may be scattered based on the results of confirmation surveys of asbestos exposure status.
If asbestos exposure is confirmed, take measures to prevent exposure quickly by prohibiting the entry of the area around the building, etc., and take emergency measures to prevent scattering by curing buildings, spraying water and spraying chemicals. It is supposed to be done.

The following are examples of emergency measures to prevent asbestos scattering and exposure.
