Method of converting fuel other than heavy oil into volume

Last update date April 10, 2024

The method of converting fuel other than heavy oil into the amount of heavy oil is as shown in Remarks 1 in Appendix 1 of the Ordinance for Enforcement of the Ordinance on conservation in Yokohama City.

Ordinance enforcement regulations about conservation of Yokohama-shi living environment

Remarks 1
The conversion of fuel other than heavy oil into the amount of heavy oil is calculated assuming that 1L of the fuel is equivalent to 1L of heavy oil, and 1 kg for coal equivalent to 0.66 L of heavy oil. In the case of gas fuels, the calorific value of the gas fuel in the conversion formula shall be calculated using the total calorific value of the fuel oil shall be 39,558.1725 kJ/L.

Heavy oil equivalent combustion capacity (L/h) = conversion coefficient × gas fuel combustion capacity (m3N/h)
Conversion factor = calorific value of gas fuel (kJ/m3N) ÷ calorific value of heavy oil (kJ/L)

For other fuels, heavy oil equivalent to the total calorific value (the calorific value is 39,558.1725 kJ/L). It shall be converted to the amount of money.

[Reference]
Calculation method of heavy oil equivalent combustion capacity of gas engines with a maximum combustion capacity of 70 m3N per hour

Table
Combustion capacity70 m3N/h (city gas 13A)
Calorific value of city gas 13A45,000kJ/m3N(10,750kcal/m3N)
Calorific value of heavy oil39,558.1725kJ/L(9,450kcal/L)

Heavy oil equivalent combustion capability = 1.13756 · × 70 m3N/h = 79.6 (L/h)
