Minami Ward is an urban area that was relatively early urbanized. There are seven stations in the ward, including two railway operators that lead to central Yokohama in Naka Ward and Nishi Ward and Kamiooka Fukutoshin. The Okagawa River, which flows through the center of the ward, is a symbol of the ward, and the Okagawa Promenade is a place for residents to relax, where you can enjoy the scenery of fish and waterfowl throughout the four seasons.
From the hills called the Seven Hill, you can enjoy a luxurious view from the buildings of the Minato Mirai 21 district to Mount Fuji. It has the characteristics of the highest population density and average age in the city, and has the characteristics of steep slopes and narrow roads. Minami fire department has offices in Maita, Ooka and Rokutsugawa fire branch offices, and has 171 staff members and 31 fire trucks to protect the safety of residents. (As of October 1, 2022.)
