Asahi Ward is located in the western part of Yokohama, and is the headwaters of Katabira River and its tributaries. The hills have good residential areas and large-scale housing complex, with a population of about 240,000 and the sixth largest in the city.
The appeal of the ward is that it is blessed with a natural environment such as water and greenery. Rich nature remains in the area around Katabira River and hills that divide the ward into north and south, and there are many parks and green spaces such as Yokohama Zoo (ZOORASIA), Children's Nature Park, Shimin-no-Mori, and Fureai Forest.
