What are those who need assistance in the event of a disaster?

In the event of a disaster, evacuation is delayed and severely damaged are those who need some kind of help (persons requiring assistance during a disaster), such as the elderly, the disabled, infants, the sick, and foreigners. In order to protect people who need assistance in the event of a disaster from earthquakes, fires, and tsunami, it is important to cooperate in the community on a daily basis and consider measures.

What you can do on a daily basis

  • In order to facilitate support in the event of a disaster, we will create a face-to-face relationship through communication such as watching activities and greetings in the community on a daily basis.

(As a trigger for the creation of relationships, certain procedures can provide information on people requiring assistance that the government knows to the community.)

  • Let's consider measures to prepare for disasters in the community, such as conducting evacuation drill with the participation of people requiring assistance.
  • Check the local environment for obstacles and steps in the evacuation route.

In the event of a disaster

  • Make sure that there are no people who are delayed in rescue or evacuation, and provide assistance in the neighborhood, such as guiding evacuation with multiple residents to the evacuation center.
  • In case of emergency, it is also necessary to evacuate.

For more information on support for people requiring assistance in the event of a disaster, please refer to the Health and Social Welfare Bureau Guideline for Disaster Assistance in Disasters.
