What is the difference?

Last Updated August 5, 2024

What is the difference?

In Yokohama, about 60% of citizens live in apartments such as condominiums. In middle- and high-rise apartment houses, the suspension of public utilities (water, gas, electricity, etc.) will make daily life difficult, and problems will arise in the safety confirmation, rescue, and life after the disaster.
When the elevator stops, the stairs can be moved up and down, and it may be difficult to go out. In particular, these problems can be considered for the elderly and high-rise residents.

About the shaking of high-rise buildings

・On the upper floors, large and slow shaking (long-period ground motion) increases the possibility that furniture will fall, fall, or move, so special measures such as fixing furniture are required.
・It is also necessary to upgrade to an elevator with an earthquake control operation device.

Stockpiling

・In addition to stockpiling at each home, stock stretchers, emergency supplies, rescue equipment, etc. throughout the apartment house.
・Let's consider stockpiling in the elevator.

Cooperation between Residential Association and residents

・In apartment, cooperation is particularly necessary in neighboring neighborhoods such as residents on the same floor.
Let's take a look at the communications from Residential Association, including the inspection of disaster prevention equipment and the announcement of the disaster drill.
・Understand the number of households and age groups on the floor and work with Residential Association to create manuals for actions in the event of a disaster.

About evacuation route

・In the event of a disaster, it may not be possible to use elevators or enter and exit from the entrance.
Check the location of emergency stairs, emergency doors, evacuation hatches on the veranda (emergency exit) and how to use the kick door.
・Do not place anything around the evacuation equipment.
