Pet measures in the event of a disaster Let's clarify and discipline the owner on a daily basis (owner's edition, first part)
Pet measures in the event of a disaster Let's prepare animal evacuation supplies on a daily basis, etc. (Owner Edition, Part 2)
● In the case of storm and flood damage-To the owner- For storms and floods such as typhoons, the course and scale can be predicted in advance, so it is important to prepare in advance so that evacuation can be evacuated promptly when evacuation is needed.
1. Evacuation of pets
Temporary breeding places for pets in evacuation sites during storms and floods are separate from human evacuation spaces.
Please put the cage prepared by the owner at the breeding place.
Please note that even if it is a covered place, it may be exposed to rain and wind depending on the situation.
In addition, please prepare items other than cages necessary for temporary breeding (water, pet food, etc.) as necessary.
* Pets that can be accepted at evacuation centers are dogs, cats, and other small animals (small birds, rabbits, hamsters, etc.).
* Specific animals (dangerous animals) and animals designated as specific aliens cannot be accepted at evacuation centers due to safety management.
Preparation for around 2 days
Depending on the scale of the disaster and the evacuation sites, storm and flood damage evacuation sites is never the best place for pets.
In addition, evacuation with pets (accompany evacuation) after the rainy and wind becomes severe is expected to be very difficult.
For these reasons, it is important to secure a temporary storage place for pets and to formulate an evacuation action plan, especially in preparation for disasters.
3 Securing places for temporary storage of pets
It is very difficult to find a temporary storage place after a disaster occurs, so make adjustments in advance.
<Example of temporary storage of pets>
① Relatives and acquaintances who are used to pets
② Animal hospital
③ Pet hotels, private facilities, etc.
● In the event of an earthquake-To the owner- Let's consider measures on a daily basis in preparation for a sudden disaster.
1 Let the pet clearly indicate the owner.
In the event of a disaster, you may be separated from your pet.
Be sure to identify the owner by attaching a dog dog's license tag, rabies vaccination slip (for dogs), lost tag, etc. to a collar, or wearing a microchip.
2 Let's discipline
When evacuating with your pet, do basic discipline to avoid disturbing others.
① You get used to cages and carrybacks on a daily basis.
② Get used to contact with people and other animals.
③ Be able to excrete in a designated place.
④ Don't bite or bark unnecessarily.
3 Let's manage health
Be careful about your pet's health management on a daily basis, such as rabies vaccination (for dogs), vaccination to prevent disease, and extermination of ticks and fleas.
Also, make a note of your vaccination history, medication history, etc. in your pet notebook.
4 Prepare emergency supplies for pets
Oh Food, water, medicine (more than 5 days)
Oh Spare collars and leads
Oh Toilet supplies (pet sheets, newspaper, toilet paper)
Oh Toys, brushes, wet tissues
Oh Pet notebook
Oh Cage and carry case
5 Let's find a temporary storage place for pets.
If you suddenly leave it in a place you don't know, it will be stressful to your pet.
Find a place where pets can feel safe on a daily basis, such as relatives, acquaintances, animal hospitals, pet hotels, pet shops, etc.
● Toward Neighborhood Association and Neighborhood Associations
In the past large-scale disasters, there were many cases where survivors with pets evacuated to evacuation sites.
In order to prevent major confusion in the event of a disaster, prepare for normal times, such as setting rules for temporary breeding of pets and setting rules for acceptance.
The ward office Health Sanitation Division provides support for the creation of rules in each evacuation shelter.
