Efforts to protect agriculture

Regarding the development of the entire Kohoku New Town, where there is a large amount of farmland, there was a problem awareness within Yokohama City from the beginning, and a form of coexistence between the new town and farmers was being sought.

Yokohama City established the "Kohoku New Town Agricultural Measures Guidelines" in 1968, and exchanged information between the land in the dedicated agricultural area set outside the business area and the farmland of those who wish to continue farming in the business area. After that, a dedicated agricultural district of about 230ha has been developed on the south side of Kohoku New Town.
