Plant cultivation started for reconstruction after the earthquake

After the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 (1923), planting trees became necessary for the reconstruction of the devastated urban areas such as Yokohama. It was the people of Uemiya who formed the gardening gardening association and worked on tree planting as soon as possible.
At that time, there was no tax standard for planting and horticulture-related work, and there was no tax frame for planting, and the people of Uemiya said, "What is gardening?" I thought from that. At first, I thought it was a horticulture section in agriculture, but "Horticulture is a hobby of humans. It's strange to pay taxes on hobbies," he said.
At the beginning of the construction industry, the seedlings necessary to create a garden and create a park were ordered from Angyo Village in Saitama Prefecture, but the priest Yokoi of Sosenji Temple in Uemiya also earned the income of the terrible temple. He cultivated the forests on the precincts to grow seedlings for living. The grounds were red soil suitable for shrubs.

The priest at Sosenji Temple, which also cultivated rare seedlings

The priest Yokoi, who learned how to make sashimi from the priest of Renshoji Temple in Kikuna, said, "There is nothing that can be used in this field if it is a sashimi tree," but divided the seedlings that grew up to the people of Uemiya. .
I learned from the priest at Renshoji Temple how to increase the seedlings I bought in Ueki City, Kawasakidaishi. The first farmers in Uemiya learned was Sazanka and camellia, but the priest Yokoi grew rare seedlings. Those who wanted to buy rare seedlings from the priest Yokoi and make a profit sat down in the temple grounds and negotiated the price. However, it is difficult to negotiate because there is no standard for the price of plants.
The priest calculates Motoki's purchase value and labor costs and flipped the Soloban, and asks, "How much do you buy?", But farmers can't answer. If I bought this seedling and raised it for 3 to 5 years, I wondered how much I could sell it, and the priest Soloban did not match much. However, street vendors who sell trees on fairs in various places came to Uemiya to buy trees, and the trees began to sell.
Around 1930, he worked with Tsurumi Gardeners' Association to create a landscaping association, create a city park, and contribute to the greening of the town.

Creating a familiar temple that takes advantage of terrain

Sosenji Temple, which is said to be the birthplace of Ueki, is now popular as the temples of Rakan and Ebine.
In 1989, as part of the creation of a temple familiar to the area, Hisanori Yokoi of Sosenji made a migratory garden using the rugged terrain. Dozens of colorful shrimps and 500 Hyakukans with various expressions and appearances are beautifully arranged, and gardens where you can enjoy seasonal flowers such as weeping cherry, Satsuki, and buttons are being prepared. The clear stream flowing between the trees and the atmosphere of the bamboo grove tea room Hoshoan is also exceptional.
The azaleas and double cherry blossoms on the approach to the temple have the taste of reminiscent of "the upper shrine is the birthplace of Ueki."
