Totsuka Ward's Reading Activities Promotion Project

Reading activities are important in learning words, improving sensibilities, enhancing expressiveness, creativity, etc., or enriching them, and acquiring the ability to live a deeper life. (Quoted from Article 2 of the Ordinance on Promotion of Reading Activities of Yokohama Citizens)

In Totsuka Ward, ward offices, libraries, schools, etc. have established the "Totsuka Ward Reading Activity Promotion Goals" to encourage residents to enjoy reading activities in a familiar place.

Second Totsuka Ward Reading Activity Promotion Target (~FY2023)

In response to the "Second Yokohama Citizen Reading Activity Promotion Plan" formulated by Yokohama City in December 2019, Totsuka Ward has formulated the "Second Totsuka Ward Reading Activity Promotion Goals" to promote reading activities in cooperation with ward offices, libraries, schools, and ward residents.

Goal 1: Enhancement of information provision

We provide information about books held by libraries and inhabitants of a ward facilities, information about reading activity groups, and information such as events related to reading to inhabitants of a ward widely.

Goal 2: Promotion of the creation of leaders

In addition to discovering leaders in reading activities, we will expand volunteers and improve skills.

Goal 3: Promotion of cooperation between activity bases

Base facilities for reading activities, including libraries, will cooperate with each other to further enhance reading activities.

Inhabitant of a ward opinion offer that we carried out in August, 2020 had a total of 31 copies, 83 valuable opinions.

Based on "the regulations about promotion of reading activity of Yokohama citizen" established in June, 2013, in Yokohama-shi, to prepare environment to support citizen's reading activity widely from child to adult and promote reading activity , In March 2014, we devised "Yokohama citizen book-reading activity promotion plan". In Totsuka Ward, we have formulated the "Totsuka Ward Reading Activity Promotion Target" as follows.
