About "the cherry blossoms on the way home" in Hongodai station square
Last update date February 24, 2022
The "Satogaeri Cherry Blossom" in Hongodai Station Square, which was damaged by Typhoon No. 15 in September 2019, was restored in February 2022.
About "Cherry blossoms on the way home"
"Satogaeri Cherry Blossom" are saplings of cherry blossom descendants sent from Japan to the United States in 1912 to Japan in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the exchange between Japan and the United States. In Sakae Ward, a tree was planted in front of Hongodai station square on March 23, 2013.
It was popular as "Sakura on the way home" by inhabitants of a ward, but suffered damage that could not be restored by typhoon 15 in September 2019.
The Sakae Ward Office has decided to restore it to the same place in order to value the wishes of those who love "Sakura on the way home" and the relationship that grew up through tree planting.
About restoration of "cherry blossoms on homecoming"
With the help of various people, we grafted trees from the branches of "Satogaeri Cherry Blossom" planted in Nogeyama Park, Nishi Ward, at the same time to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the exchange between Japan and the United States.
The seedlings after grafting were grown at the Sakae Ward Office and replanted in February 2022.
