１．What is a bright election promotion campaign?

We live under democratic politics. In democratic politics, our opinions and requests are reflected in politics by elected representatives. If the election to select the representative is not held fairly, the fundamentals of democracy will be shaken.

In addition, we need to participate in voting with awareness so that we do not vote solely on acquisitions, offerings, or personality-in-law. In this way, the government and the private sector work together to eliminate election crimes and distorted elections and promote elections in which our intentions are correctly reflected in politics, is called the "bright election promotion campaign". .

Nishi Ward's bright election promotion council consists of 11 members and about 100 members (people who practice and promote the business and movement of the Council). (As of November 20, 2023)

Practical enlightenment in school student council elections
In group performing student council election and event of junior high school, high school in ward, we rent ballot box and entry stand, dispatch of election administration staff.

Nishi Ward Senkyo Forum
We hold forums every year to encourage future voters to be interested in elections.
In Nishi Ward, we hold "lecture of election" and "simulated voting" in junior high school in ward.
Prior to the mock voting, the election secretary gives a lecture on the election system and the flow of voting, with the aim of deepening the understanding of the election.

３．Introduction of Election Characters

I would like to introduce the characters of the election.
Character	Explanation
Ikot-chan	This is an election mascot of the Yokohama City Election Commission, modeled on the lighthouse. As the election approaches, they appear everywhere in the city and call for votes. Since its birth in 1988 (Showa 63), it has been brightly illuminating the port town, Yokohama as a mascot of elections and democracy. The cute name was chosen from about 2,000 proposals received by citizens.
Icott Jr.	Like Ikot-chan, Icott Jr. (Junior) is working hard as a mascot of the Yokohama Election Commission. It is also appearing in various places on this website. Neighborhood AssociationNeighborhood Associations.
Maid	It is the image character of the bright election promotion council. There are feathers on the back to make a bright election. This Mesui-kun, born in April 2000, is actually based on a ballot box. The two vertical lines on the head represent the ballot insertion. The name "Mei" comes from the bright election "Ming" and "Sui" comes from the "Sui" of promotion.
