Application for Confirmation of Drainage Equipment

Drainage facilities are facilities for drainage that you maintain and manage.
Looking at the ground around the building (it is easy to find if it is a newly built house for sale), there are lids such as a round shape made of concrete or vinyl chloride (in the case of rainwater only, it may be a square iron lattice lid). That is what is called "masu" of drainage equipment. In the meantime, it is basically connected by a pipe, and at the end it is connected (made of concrete) to the public sewer.

It is your duty to prepare drainage facilities, and prior to the maintenance of drainage facilities, it is necessary to obtain confirmation from The Mayor of Yokohama that the plan conforms to the provisions of laws and regulations concerning the installation and structure of drainage facilities, etc.
What is created to obtain confirmation is the “Drainage Equipment (wash toilet remodeling) plan confirmation application”.
The application will be submitted to Public Works Office in case of detached houses.
The application form has "original copy" and "duplicate copy", and after confirmation, the "duplicate copy" with the confirmed mark is returned to the applicant.
Construction of drainage facilities can only be performed by a designated drainage construction shop. (Designated construction shops display "Drainage Equipment Designated Construction Shop Certificate" in an easy-to-see place at the sales office.)

Please read the “Yokohama City Drainage Equipment Handbook” carefully and contact Public Works Office or Environmental Planning Bureau Sewer Management Division if you have any questions.

When a public notice (notification) of the start of operation is made, there is an obligation to install drainage facilities according to Article 10 of the Sewerage Law and connect to public sewage.
Next, those who intend to install drainage facilities must receive confirmation that the plan conforms to the provisions of laws and regulations on the installation and structure of drainage facilities. (Article 4 of the Sewerage Ordinance)

(The submitted "exclusive" documents will be generally reviewed according to this procedure.)

Person who is going to perform new construction such as drainage facilities must receive confirmation of "exclusion" by rule of regulations Article 4. If you want to change the confirmed items, please receive the same confirmation.

If you want to change the drainage area or drainage system after receiving "extraction", create a new "extraction" and fill in the remarks column with the original confirmation number and the reason for the change. Please receive confirmation again with a duplicate of "extraction".
However, other minor changes can be replaced by correcting the duplicate of "exclusiveness".

Upon confirmation of "exclusion", please submit a "completion notification" within 5 days from the date the construction is completed (submitted to each Public Works Office).

Those who intend to establish new drainage facilities, etc., should be able to confirm in accordance with Article 4 of the Ordinance whether the plan conforms to the provisions of laws and ordinances related to the installation and structure of drainage facilities. There is no provision for inspection.
However, if the inspection is determined by law or rules, it will be performed.

If any of the following matters apply for connection and installation pipes, consult with Public Works Office in advance before applying for confirmation of drainage plans.

1. If the connection on a public road is required.
2. In case of repair of existing mounting pipes or insufficient pipe diameter.
3. When installing a connection on a public road.
4. When connecting and installing a new mounting pipe.

The books attached to the drainage system (remodeling flush toilet) plan confirmation application (hereinafter referred to as “plan confirmation application”) submitted to the Public Works Office in each ward are as follows. Application for Confirmation of Drainage Equipment Plan
