Child care

"Child care ribin" is a system based on the government's "Regional Excellent Rental Housing System Outline" and is nicknamed "Regional Excellent Rental Housing for Yokohama City Child Care Households". Yokohama City certifies private existing houses with consideration for child-rearing, such as the living environment, as "child-rearing ribin", and subsidizes a part of the rent for child-raising households with low income.

Rent subsidy rate
TypeHousehold incomeGrant rateMaximum amount of grant
Type 1123,000 yen or less40%Up to 40,000 yen per month
Type 2123,001 yen or more and 214,000 yen or less25%Up to 40,000 yen per month

Resident's burden

The amount obtained by subtracting the subsidy from the contract rent is the monthly rent (resident's burden).
※Contract rent is residential rent excluding security deposit and utility fee. security deposit, utility fee, etc. are not eligible for the grant and are required separately.
Resident burden = contract rent-(contract rent x subsidy rate)

Examples of grant amount and resident burden

[Example 1]
If "Type 1" moves into a house with a contract rent of 95,000 yen,
The grant amount is 95,000 yen x 40% = 38,000 yen
95,000 yen to 38,000 yen = 57,000 yen
It will be.

[Example 2]
If "Type 1" moves into a house with a contract rent of 110,000 yen,
The grant amount is 110,000 yen x 40% = 44,000 yen ※The grant amount is 40,000 yen because it exceeds 40,000 yen.
110,000 yen to 40,000 yen = 70,000 yen
It will be.

How to calculate the monthly income of the household

The household monthly income is the monthly amount obtained by subtracting the various deductions stipulated by the Income Tax Law from the income of all residents.

  • Household monthly income = {Total income of all residents (annual amount)-Total deduction amount} / 12

Income ("Household monthly income") can be calculated automatically here. (If you have changed jobs after January 1, last year, the calculation method will be different, so please contact us.) (External site)

Income Calculation Sheet

Depending on various cases, there may be differences in the amount of income, etc., so please use the following "Income Calculation Quick Reference Table" as a guide.
Please confirm the exact amount at the counter when applying.

※This is a guide if there is only one person with income and the deduction is dependent on relatives. This does not apply if there are two or more people with income and there are deductions other than pensioners and relatives deductions.
※After moving in, we will conduct a qualification survey once a year. Every year around June, you must apply for a rent reduction subsidy for one year from October of that year. As a result, the amount paid by residents for one year is determined.
