Guidance sign with Yokohama-shi advertisement, public wireless maintenance business

Yokohama City and MCD Co., Ltd. concluded a contract in December 2018 to create an environment where visitors can smoothly move to their destinations, and as a business utilizing advertising fee income, surrounding facilities etc. We have been promoting the maintenance of information signs and public wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) that show information.
In line with the holding of Rugby World Cup 2019 TM, operation will start sequentially from September 20, 2019.
For Wi-Fi, we will provide services by "YOKOHAMA Free Wi-Fi (SSID: YOKOHAMA_Free_Wi-Fi)" which is already being developed in free passages at Yokohama Station and parks in Minato Mirai 21 district. The QR code of "YOKOHAMA TRAVEL GUIDE", which provides information such as sightseeing information in multiple languages, will be posted on the guide sign.
In anticipation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we will work to improve the stay environment for visitors by adding installation locations while grasping the usage status of "YOKOHAMA Free Wi-Fi". .

In preparation for the Rugby World Cup 2019 TM and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, a guide sign showing the location information of the current location and surrounding facilities is required on a map in order for visitors to move smoothly to their destination. In addition, a public wireless LAN is required for foreign visitors to Japan to collect tourist information through the Internet.
Therefore, in order to solve the above issues, Yokohama City and MCD Co., Ltd. will utilize the advertising fee revenue and carry out the maintenance and management of guidance signs and public wireless LANs in a public-private partnership project.

Public wireless LANs are being developed at restaurants, commercial facilities, airports and stations, etc., but the development of public spaces such as roads and station squares is insufficient.
In this project, in the wake of the Rugby World Cup 2019 TM and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, many visitors, including foreign tourists, visit to provide a comfortable stay environment for visitors from Japan and abroad. In public spaces in central Yokohama, we will recruit businesses that provide public wireless LANs with high needs from foreign visitors to Japan and the maintenance and management and operation of guide signs through public-private partnerships.

It covers roads and station squares around Yokohama Station, Minato Mirai 21, Kannai / Kangai-District and Shin-Yokohama Station.
In addition, for the area around Shin-Yokohama Station, the route to the Yokohama International Stadium is also covered.

In the area subject to maintenance, based on the redevelopment of existing guidance signs, the maintenance of guidance signs and public wireless LANs shall be managed and operated for at least 10 years.
In addition, for the expenses required for the implementation of the project, advertisements will be posted as long as they do not interfere with the guidance sign, and the income will be financed as financial resources.
