Create a forest of Keihin that will be passed on to the future

Last update date April 1, 2024

What is the creation of the Keihin Forest that will be passed on to the future?

The concept of creating a forest in Keihin

The green space of companies in the Keihin district and facilities that are open to the public are regarded as important local assets, and together with public greenery and waterfronts, companies, citizens, etc. and the government work together to expand and utilize greenery. We promote the creation of a Keihin forest that will be passed on to the future.

Keihin Area Area Map

Seaside area of Tsurumi Ward and Kanagawa Ward (approximately 1,600 ha)
Many factories are located at the core of the Keihin Industrial Zone, which has supported the prosperity of the Japanese economy.
In the Keihin area, creating a green environment has become an issue as an industrial base with a rich environment. Many companies located in the district, citizens, and the government share wisdom together and think that working on this issue is "collaboration." In cooperation with companies, let's create a rich green environment in the Keihin area in cooperation with citizens and NPOs.

Yokohama City positions the expansion and utilization of greenery through collaboration in line with the Keihin Forest Creation Guidelines as "Yokohama Green Up Plan / Green Creation" and calls widely to companies and citizens to work together to promote greening activities. I will proceed.

7 major green bases and major rivers and seasides

The Keihin area seems to be separated from the rich natural environment because it is a coastal landfill, but rivers such as the Tsurumi River are connected to the cohesive greenery of the suburbs, and the water environment such as estuaries and canals is also blessed. And the natural environment is expected to be restored. More than 98 hectares of green space are secured at factories in the district, which is equivalent to more than 13 Yamashita Park plants.
Some companies are actively engaged in environmental management, such as creating biotopes and releasing green spaces. It is necessary to promote the use of these green spaces and environmental activities, and to have a network that connects each other with other greenery and waterfronts. Various actors work together to foster the connection between people, greenery and waterside, which leads to "eco-up" that enhances the local environmental power.
In order to promote the creation of a rich environment suitable for an industrial district, in the following two districts, we devised green town development throughout the area as a regional greening plan through the cooperation of citizens, and carried out each greening along this.

As for the details, please see site of the following local green town development business.
