About initiatives in the Shimo-Izumi area

In May 2012, an organization was established in the Shimo-Izumi district (2-chome to 4-chome Shimo-Izumi, Izumi-ku) to consider appropriate means of transportation for local communities based on the Road and Highway Bureau Regional Transportation Support Project. For the "E-Bus", which the region has been operating independently since 2002, for more than one year, with the aim of expanding the operating hours and switching to route buses, local organizations, bus operators, Yokohama City We have been examining the three parties, aiming to operate route buses that circulate between Izumi-Chuo Station, Shimo-Iida Station and Shimo-Iida Station.

  • It is about 2 km to the nearest station and about 1 km to the existing bus stop, and is a detached residential area where the population is aging.

Progress of Initiatives
1999
  • With the extension of Shonandai Station on the Municipal Shimotetsu Blue Line, route buses in the Shimo-Izumi area will be reorganized and reduced flights.
  • Established a regional organization (Shimo-Izumi Area Traffic Control Committee)
  • We discuss bus introduction with shared bus company, but did not lead to realization

  • Start of operation of self-operated "E-bus" by chartered bus (consignment of operation to Tendai Kanko Co., Ltd.)
May, 2012
  • Registered by a regional organization (Shimo-Izumi District Traffic Control Committee) for a local traffic support project
December, 2012
  • Conducted a questionnaire on the actual use of the E-bus and the intention to use when expanding the operating hours.
January, 2013
  • Examination and adjustment of specific operation plans such as the location of schedules and stops
  • Conducted on-site surveys of potential stop sites with related organizations
July, 2013
  • Publicity of service plans for residents through Neighborhood Associations and Neighborhood Association
September, 2013
  • Test operation started as a route bus

  • Conducted surveys on the actual use of buses and surveys on usage by distributing them to local communities.

  • A full-scale operation plan was approved by the Regional Public Transport Council.

  • New stop (3-chome north, in front of Mizoin), relocation (3-chome west)
  • Changed Shimoiida Station to be able to get on and off in both directions
