About initiatives in the Kamariya district of Kanazawa-ku

In May 2013, an organization was established in the Kamariya district of Kanazawa Ward based on the Road and Highway Bureau Regional Transportation Support Project to examine appropriate means of transportation for local communities. For about four and a half years, local organizations, bus operators, and Yokohama City have been engaged in activities to realize the necessary transportation services in the area.

District Overview
  • Approximately 2,000 households: 5,500
  • A mortar-shaped residential area created around 1975
  • There is a bus route on the ridge road, which runs 4 to 5 buses / hour during the day, but some of the districts have an altitude difference of about 30m and a distance of about 700m to the bus stop, which is inconvenient for daily life.

May, 2013 Group registration with the aim of establishing new bus routes
July, 2013 Conducted a questionnaire to understand local movement trends
March, 2014 Presenting multiple route plans devised by the region to Keikyu Bus
August, 2014 Conduct actual vehicle driving surveys in the presence of police and civil engineering to confirm the examination route.
January, 2015 Determine operation routes and bus stop locations in the region
December, 2015 Conducted a questionnaire to understand the demand for new bus routes
March, 2016 Present the results of the above questionnaire to the community (reexamine the expansion of one bus stop)
July, 2016 In order to confirm the change in the position of the bus stop, conduct an actual vehicle driving survey under the witness of police and civil engineering.
August, 2016 Determined bus stop position (1 new location, 7 locations were confirmed by 1 location not possible)
