About approach of Hinogaoka district

In October 2007, the Hinogaoka district (Hino 4-chome) established an organization to examine appropriate means of transportation for local communities based on the Road and Highway Bureau Regional Transportation Support Project. Over the next four years, local organizations, bus operators, and Yokohama City have repeatedly examined and have been working to operate a route bus between Kamiooka and Hino 4-chome.

  • It is a residential area developed in the early 40s, and is a hill area where the population is aging.

Progress of Initiatives
Year and Year Activities
October, 2007 Hinogaoka Neighborhood Associations established the Traffic Issues Study Group and registered as a support business.
February, 2008 Conducted the first questionnaire (confirmation of intention of destination)
October, 2008 Kanagawa Chuo Kotsu Co., Ltd. decided the project planner and set the destination at Kami-Ooka Station.
December, 2008 Examination of service route plan
March, 2009 Start of examination of bus stop setting position (presentation of position that can be placed by business operators, narrowing down candidate sites locally, negotiation of bus stop setting)
August, 2009 Conducted the 2nd questionnaire (confirmation of demand and usage time zone for residents along the route)
May, 2010 On-site witness survey of potential bus stop sites in regional organizations, bus operators, Konan police department, Konan Public Works Office, ward office and Road and Highway Bureau
June, 2011 Presenting an outline of the operation schedule from the bus operator
July, 2011 Road improvement work required for bus operation (construction by Konan Public Works Office)
August, 2011 Stop position adjustment
September, 2011 Test operation using bus vehicles
