Combined and split flow type
Last update date May 13, 2024
There are two ways to send sewage to the water reclamation center: a diversion type and a combined type.
Separation type sewer system
The method of sending rainwater and sewage from homes due to rainfall to the water reclamation center in separate pipelines is called "separate sewer", and about 70% of the city's area is maintained in a diverted manner.
Rainwater can be drained into rivers and the sea without treating, and only sewage is treated at a water reclamation center.

Combined sewer system
The method of sending rainwater and sewage from homes due to rainfall to the water reclamation center in one pipeline is called "merging sewer", and about 30% of the city's area is maintained by a combined type.
Since all sewage collected in the event of heavy rain cannot be treated at the water reclamation center, some of them will not be treated and washed away into rivers and seas. For this reason, improvement measures are being taken, such as temporarily storing dirty water in the early stages of rainfall in the rainwater reservoir and treating it later.
