Can I use the toilet in my house in the event of a disaster?
Last update date April 1, 2024
In the case of apartment
Be sure to check the rules set by Residential Association regarding the use of toilets in the event of a disaster. If the rules are not fixed, decide the rules in advance.
(Example of usage rules)
- Check that there is no visible damage in the building and that there are no abnormalities in the manholes around the site.
- Water is drained in order from the dwelling units on the lower floor to check if sewage can be used.
- Once all dwelling units have been confirmed, the toilet can be used.
In the case of a single-family house
Open the lid of the sewage masu in the residential land with a flat driver, drain the water from the toilet, and make sure that the flowing water does not remain in the sewage masu. The confirmation work should be done by two or more people. If the drainage pipe in the house is off or the water is overflowing from the manhole on the surrounding roads, do not use the toilet and use a portable toilet.
