Overview of Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant

 Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant started operation in March 1978 as the seventh water reclamation center in Yokohama.
 The treatment zone covers most areas of Kanagawa Ward, Nishi Ward and Hodogaya Ward, as well as some parts of Tsurumi Ward, Asahi Ward and Kohoku Ward.
 Advanced treatment (removal of nitrogen and phosphorus) started in March 1999, and advanced treatment of 80% of sunny weather current.
 In addition, as a countermeasure against pollution runoff in rainy weather, a rainwater basin that stores initial rainwater has been installed.

Major pumping stations under the jurisdiction of Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant

 In the treatment area of Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant, there are numerous pumping stations and pumping facilities and rainwater regulating ponds, including the Sakuragi pumping station, Hodogaya pumping station, Hiranuma pumping station and Kusu pumping station.
 

Sakuragi Pumping Station

 The Sakuragi pumping station receives sewage from most households in Nishi Ward and sends it to Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant.

 During rainfall, rainwater is drained into the Ishizaki River.

Hodogaya Pumping Station

 Hodogaya pumping station receives sewage from some households in Hodogaya Ward and Asahi Ward and sends it to Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant.

 Rainwater is drained into Katabira River during rainfall.

Hiranuma Pumping Station

 The Hiranuma pumping station drains rainwater around the Yokohama-sta.-nishiguchi during rainfall.

 The drainage destination is Aratama River, a tributary of Katabira River.

Kusu Pumping Station

 The Kusu Pumping Station is augmented pumping station at the Hiranuma pumping station, which drains rainwater around Yokohama-sta.-nishiguchi during rainfall.

 The drainage destination is Aratama River, which is discharged from the Katabira River channel.

Hoshikawa rainwater regulating pond

 The Hoshikawa Rainwater Reservoir temporarily stores rainwater in low-ground areas along the Katabira River during heavy rains and drains them in fine weather.
 
 The drainage destination is Katabira River.

[When arriving from JR Higashi-Kannagawa Station]
From the East Exit of JR Higashi-Kannagawa Station, head toward Keikyu Higashi-Kannagawa Station and go down by stairs or elevator.

Cross the intersection of "Koban" (police box) in front of Higashikanagawa Station, pass under the Keikyu Line viaduct and proceed to National Route 15. On the way, you'll find a convenience store on your right.

Cross the pedestrian bridge of National Route 15 at the Kanagawa 2-chome intersection, cross the traffic light in the direction of a used car dealer, and cross the villageamebashi on the right.

Go straight and you will find the main gate of Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant on your left.
