Overview of Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant

 Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant started operation in March 1978 as the seventh water reclamation center in Yokohama.
 Most of the Kanagawa Ward, Nishi Ward and Hodogaya Ward, as well as part of Tsurumi Ward, Asahi Ward and Kohoku Ward, treats about one-seventh of the population of Yokohama.
 Advanced treatment (removal of nitrogen and phosphorus) began in March 1999, and advanced treatment of 80% of fine weather currents.
 In addition, as a countermeasure against pollution runoff in rainy weather, a rainwater reservoir that stores early rainwater has been installed.

Major pumping stations under the jurisdiction of Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant

 Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant's treatment area includes a number of pumping stations, pumping facilities and rainwater regulating ponds, including the Sakuragi pumping station, Hodogaya pumping station, Hiranuma pumping station, and Kusu pumping station.
 

Sakuragi Pumping Station

 The Sakuragi pumping station receives sewage from most households in Nishi Ward and sends it to Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant.

 Rainwater is drained to the Ishizaki River during rainfall.

Hodogaya Pumping Station

 The Hodogaya pumping station receives sewage from some households in Hodogaya Ward and Asahi Ward and sends it to Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant.

 Rainwater is drained to Katabira River during rainfall.

Hiranuma Pumping Station

 The Hiranuma pumping station drains rainwater around Yokohama-sta.-nishiguchi during rainfall.

 The drainage destination is Aratama River, a tributary of the Katabira River.

Kusu Pumping Station

 Kusu Pumping Station is an enhanced pumping station at the Hiranuma Pumping Station, which drains rainwater around Yokohama-sta.-nishiguchi during rainfall.

 Drainage destination is Aratama River, the discharge destination of the Katabira River diversion channel.

Hoshikawa Rainwater Reservoir

 The Hoshikawa Rainwater Reservoir mainly stores rainwater from low ground areas along the Katabira River during heavy rains and drains it in sunny weather.
 
 The drainage destination is Katabira River.

[In case of visiting from JR Higashi-Kanagawa Station]
From East Exit at JR Higashi-Kanagawa Station, head toward Keikyu Higashi-Kanagawa Station and go down by stairs or elevator.

Cross the intersection with "Koban" (police box) in front of Higashikanagawa Station, pass under the Keikyu Line viaduct to Route 15. On the way, the convenience store is on your right.

Cross the pedestrian bridge on National Route 15 at the Kanagawa 2-chome intersection, cross the traffic light in the direction of a used car dealer, and cross the Murasame Bridge on the right.

Go straight ahead and you will find the main gate of Kanagawa Wastewater Treatment Plant on your left.
